ABRÉGÉ
Genres, générations et cultures entrent en collision dans cette comédie sur la cellule familiale moderne. Une femme transgenre d’origine indienne, voit sa vie chambardée par l’arrivée de son fils adolescent “blanc” dont elle ignorait l’existence.
SYNOPSIS
La famille de Sid le presse d’épouser une gentille fille indienne et de fonder un foyer. Sa mère indienne, qui veut tellement avoir des petits-enfants, est sur le point de réaliser son rêve, mais pas de la façon dont elle l’avait imaginé.
Au moment où Sid décide de s’afficher en femme, un garçon de 14 ans nommé Ralph cogne littéralement à sa porte pour lui annoncer qu’il est son père biologique. Bien que Ralph soit surpris de découvrir que papa est maintenant une femme, il croit que c’est génial d’avoir un parent transgenre. Mais Ralph a lui aussi des squelettes dans le placard : il n’a pas dit à sa mère ni à son beau-père qu’il a retracé son père biologique. Et puis, il y a le petit ami de Sid, Daniel : il n’a pas encore révélé à sa famille qu’il fréquente Sid, et ne se sent pas prêt du tout à accepter un beau-fils et à se compliquer la vie encore davantage
Le coming out de Sid fait boule de neige et les masques tombent l’un après l’autre. Qu’arrive-t-il lorsque les sexes, les générations et les cultures s’entrechoquent et créent une famille vraiment moderne?
